Original boards (see image at left), backstrip and sewing pretty much perished, binding split between pp. 144 and 145. Textblock with some soiling, foxed. Collated and complete, half-title and corrigenda leaf present. The appendix includes quite a lot about hyacinths and a list of the fruit trees in the Jardin des Plantes. Not the most physically appealing example, but appears to be James MacDonald's copy with "James M'Donald / 1822" written on verso of rear free endpaper and Mrs. MacDonald's book label on front paste-down. MacDonald was chief gardener at Dalkeith Park and a member of the deputation. Seller Inventory # 004766
