Twelfth edition handsomely bound at the Spanish bindery of Emilio Brugalla (1901-87) in Madrid with stamp to verso of the endpaper stating the binding was carried out in 1936. [12], [316] pp; blank leaves front and back. Half morocco over marbled boards with raised bands to the spine, gilt lines and lettering; tips of corners a lightly rubbed; marbled endpapers; top edge gilt; original paper front wrappers bound in. A very attractive copy. Joseph Fouché, 1st Duc d'Otrante, 1st Comte Fouché (1759 1820 was a French statesman and Minister of Police under First Consul Bonaparte, who later became Emperor Napoleon. He was particularly known for his ferocity with which he suppressed the Lyon insurrection during the Revolution in 1793 and for being minister of police under the Directory, the Consulate, and the Empire.
