About this Item
London, Field & Tuer, The Leadenhall Press, 1885. 8vo (19.4 x 12.5 cm). 116 pp., numerous hand-coloured woodcuts. Contemporary half vellum over blue paper-covered boards. Gilt title on the spine. = A charmingly illustrated and finely hand-coloured edition. This copy embellished with two extra portraits of Walton, a clipping from an early book sales catalogue, a cartoon, a newspaper clipping from The Times (1919), etc. Obviously the work of a Walton adept. The hand-colouring is original. As written on the front free endpaper rect, "Mr. Joseph Crawhall was both editor & illustrator" and an accurate colourist too. Uncut. A crack in the spine cover, binding a trifle cocked, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Rare. Seller Inventory # 70614
