Ink stamp of "Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro, Rome" on the first page of text. One page of the index has blue pencil marks in the margin. Italian text. Amy Allemand Bernardy (1879-1959), born in Florence, Italy, to an American father and Italian mother, journalist and historian, author of the first analytical studies on the Italiian migration. She taught for a period at Smith College in Massachusetts, and set about the task of documenting the conditions of Italian immigrants to the United States, particularly of the women and children.
