Pencil inscription to front endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Mild sunning to spine, which has mild crushing and wear to ends. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Unclipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips, tears, and creasing. Mild foxing. Moderate water staining to spine. Heavy tanning to spine and edges. Hardcover. Presumed first edition/first printing. vii, [1], 218 p. Includes maps. Maps of escape route at endpapers. Introduction by Captain G. F. Collie, M.B. E., 51st Highland Division. The author and two colleagues were wounded in France before that country fell to the Nazis. The author also had a leg injury that necessitated amputation, and took to wearing a peg leg. These three wounded servicement made their way from a hospital in Paris into Andorra, and finally to Barcelona and from there they were able to be repatriated to England. Good in fair dust jacket.
