About this Item
An original document: a deed transferring land in Bristol, County of Ontario, State of New York from Ira Crosby to John Hatch dated November 28, 1814. A single sheet measuring 16 ¼ in. x 13 ¼ in. It is a printed form, with blank spaces for names, dates, descriptions of the land, etc; in other words, an early Nineteenth Century 'legal blank.' The blanks have been filled in by hand; there is writing on both sides. The document was folded once vertically in the center, then twice horizontally. When opened the left edge is ragged, although no text is affected. Age-related spotting, plus a few other small spots (dried ink, perhaps). A piece of history, showing how things were done before printers and before typewriters, including the use of the long (or medial or descending) 'S' that looks like an 'F.' Considering its age, it is in excellent condition. If it were a book, I would call it "Very Good.". Seller Inventory # ABE-15948760329
