Green boards with edgewear around the four front corners and a scattering of white spots to the front; the spine, lettered and lined in gilt, slightly frayed and chipped at head and tail. Internally foxed and toned endpapers have no cracking in the gutter; a 4cm x 6cm stain to the lower front corner of the ffep goes no further. Title page followed by Index to Engravings and then Page 1 (No. 1296.-XLV1 Saturday, January 7, 1865) showing Xmas at Chrystal Palace; Pp 644 + 224 (July, August, September) the last page showing The Atlantic Telegraph, followed by four colour plates in Xmas Supplement, the last one 'Happiness' is disintegrating. Binding tight and no evidence of excisions but there are no pull outs or colour panoramas apart from in the Supplement. A footnote in the Index mentions a 2-page engraving to be pasted near the middle of the text. Extra postage outside the UK. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Seller Inventory # 003662
