The Iliad of Homer. Translated by Alexander Pope. Printed by Philip H. Nicklin. 1813, 2 volumes, 314 and 302 pp, 5.25 x 3.25 , 8vo, hardcover full leather. In good condition, with rubbing and wear to exteriors. Some cracking to leather and loss to head of spine in Volume I. Some cracking to hinges, primarily at front and rear of Volume I. Black-and-white frontispiece at front of Volume I. Text blocks remain in good condition and are bound well. Light markings and marginalia at front of volumes. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce set printed by Philip H. Nicklin (1786-1842), a bookseller, writer, and publisher, as well as a member of the American Philosophical Society. The decorative first title page of Volume I states that the set is an 1813 Philadelphia imprint, while the normal title pages state that the set is an 1812 Baltimore imprint. COLC1813BJLB.
