One volume: consisting of Book 1 (Chapters 1-V) and Book II (Chapters VI-XIV). In addition, there are Notes, an Index of Geographical Names and an Index of Personal Names. Part of the Broadway Travellers series of 'tales of old travel' published by George Routledge & Sons and edited by Sir E. Denison Ross and Eileen Power. (The final unpaginated section of the book contains concise outlines of titles in this series). There are nine (listed) maps and illustrations. Red cloth boards with gilt titles at the head and tail of the spine; which is faded (see main image). Top edge is stained maroon/brown; the other two are not - and display some mild spotting. The binding remains tight. The main condition-related issue is the extent of tanning internally. This ranges from mild to moderate but is more intense, with spotting, on some of the book's preliminary and final pages - see images for examples. pp. vii, 398. Text is black with some titles, subtitles and drop capitals in red. Printed on laid paper.
