5" x 7 1/8", 63 pp., wraps. Scarce FIRST STATE/printing copy in about Very Good to VG- condition. See photo enlarged. Overall a very good copy but with a a FO name "Don" [?] at top of TP and a thin stain at the upper leading edge of the first 7 pages (half centimeter deep and 2cm long); also some scattered light discolorations on the cover (most on rear cover), a narrow crease at the lower leading edge of the front and some mild surface creases to the back cover; otherwise a good copy with no other issues. Collection of stories by Bowles about the glories of hashish ("kif") smoking, told through the experiences of four men. Begins with the now-famous first line, "A pipe of kif before breakfast gives a man the strength of a hundred camels in the courtyard." Scarce in its first state. Seller Inventory # 02911
