This is an inscribed copy of "Home Life in Colonial Days" by Alice Morse Earle. 1899; The Macmillan Company; New York. The front end paper contains an inscription written by Earle, as follows: "To Thomas Allen, Who here may learn that neither the food of the gods, nor rag-weed, is my ambrosia. From the author - Alice Morse Earle. April, 1901." The book features illustrations and photographs (taken by Earle) throughout, some of which are full-page; gilt top page edges. Please see the photos for the complete list of contents. Condition: Heavy foxing to the covers; the spine is heavily tanned; sharp corners. Bright gilt top page edges. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean with no notable issues found; "8/14/67 Gift Eleanor Allen" is written vertically in pencil along the gutter of the dedication page.
