"Complete in Four Parts." These are four volumes of a twelve volume set, rebound into a complete set of the classic novel. The books are titled 1 through 4 on gilt decorated spine. "With the author's preface, and an introduction by G. H. Maynadier, PH.D." These four volumes contain all of the History of Tom Jones, the most famous of Fielding's works and a true literary classic. Half burgundy leather and paper covered boards. Matching decorative endpapers. Five raised hubs on spines. Frontispiece illustrations with tissue guards in all volumes. Book 1 (Volume Three) xlvi, 336 pp. Book 2 (Volume Four) xii, 340 pp. Book 3 (Volume 5) xii, 359 pp. Book 4 (Volume Six) xii, 349 pp. Top edge gilt. General light rubbing to boards, but book 1 has a rather blatant scuff mark near top of spine. Mild soiling and age toning to edges of text block. All volumes have a previous owner's or binder's tasteful stamp on cover. No other names or marks. A quite clean, very tightly bound set of a classic, with a handsome shelf presence.
