Includes basic State history, local features and settlement, 'aborigines', Black Hawk War, land surveys, pioneer life & reminiscences, government organization, courts, schools, lawyers, railroads, agriculture, doctors, politicians, Civil War, various events, newspapers, histories of New Glarus, Adams, Albany, Brooklyn, Cadiz, Clarno, Decatur, Brodhead, Exeter, Jefferson, Jordan, Monroe, Mount Pleasant, Spring Grove, Sylvester, Wasahington & York; biographies of many prominent citizens. This reprint includes two maps and an index not found in the original edition. Big stout hardcover, full tan cloth, gilt titling; no jacket, likely as issued.
