2 volumes. 12mo, 167 x 108 mms., pp. 312; 280 [281 - 286 adverts], contemporary calf, rebacked, red morocco labels; rebacking a little tight, but a good set with the contemporary autograph "Ja. Horsfall" on the top margin of each title-page. Goldsmith published this work anonymously in 1774, but it is a different work from that published in 1771, The History of England; presumably in the intervening years Goldsmith gained more confidence about the definite article.
