Full title: History of the Conquest of Peru with a preliminary view of the civilization of the Incas. A three volume set with the following comments applying to each book; unless stated otherwise. Salmon pink blind-stamped cloth boards with gilt (gold) titles and decorative motifs along the spine. The latter is coloured beige, and on close inspection, this colour also frames the book's upper and lower boards (image). B/w engraved frontispiece with tissue guard (not vol. I). Condition (external): dents, curling at the book's edges with some fraying of the cloth at the head and tail of the spine (slightly more evident on vol. III). Condition (internal): mild to moderate tanning throughout with occasional spotting. Both tissue guards are very tanned and detached. Tanning is slightly more apparent on the preliminary pages of vol. III. Half title page has an ink signature; dated 1893. pp. xxxi, 334 (vol. I) + ads, pp. xvi, 357 (vol. II), pp. xvi, 334, inc. an index, appendix and original documents section (vol. III) + ads. 16mo (+/-). New edition, 1862. In this set of three books, volume I consists of books I and II, and volume II of books III and IV. However, volume III also consists of books IV; as well as book V. The chapter headings for book IV in the second volume are not the same as those for book IV in the third volume of this set.
