This 6.25 x 9.5 inch, 254 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the first edition of this title from Doubleday & Company, Inc. of Garden City in 1962, with that date on the title page. This copy is in near fine condition with just a touch of handling wear showing to the grey cloth covers. The book edges and corners are fine but there are some seemingly fingerprint smudges that are faint on both front and back panels of the book. The blue blocked silver printing on the spine is clean and bright. The interior text block Is in fine condition with endpaper maps, a full-page page frontis, and numerous color photos and graphics in the text. The dust wrapper is in very good condition with edge-wear showing at the folds and with several half-inch tears at the fold and one, one-inch tear at the front upper corner. The price is unclipped. This book followed Hillary?s epic first ascent of Everest in 1953 and this book further explores life at high altitude in the Himalaya?s. Emphasis is given to the story of the legendary Yeti and there are several pictures of a purported Yeti skin, native Yeti drawings, and Yeti footprints. There is further accounts of climbing in the Everest region following that first Everest ascent with other American?s involved. Hillary went on to be a champion of the native people of the Himalaya?s and he remains an inspiration today. 254 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-1114
