Truman hopes to vote for an anti-lynching bill. Extraordinary T.L.S. "Harry" of his Senate letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Jan. 25th, 1938 to John Snyder in St. Louis, Truman's friend who would later serve as Truman's secretary of the Treasury. Truman hopes to visit his friend six days hence, but complains: ".This legislative has me worried to some extent." He rather nonchalantly explains: ".I cannot under any circumstances leave here if there is a possibility of a vote on the ANTI-LYNCHING bill because every negro organization in the State has an agreement with me to vote for it and I will almost have to deliver under the circumstances. I am sincerely hoping that we get it out of the way before the weekend. I will call you Saturday and let you know just what the situation is." File holes at top else fine.
