Fifth Edition, Revised. Important and popular guidebook to China first issued in 1913. Black leatherette boards with gilt lettering, all edges stained pink, v, 390 pp, 11pp of index and 15pp adverts. Six folding maps as called for, including of Peking, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Carl Crow was an American advertising executive and long time resident of Shanghai; he is the man credited with bringing western advertising concepts and ideas to China; as an author he is best remembered for his book 400 Million Customers. The guidebook is in Very Good condition, top of rear board splitting from spine but binding remains tight, small pen code to top edge, previous owner's inscription to ffep, all maps present and in excellent condition.
