This 4.5 x 7.0 inch, 646 page softcover book is the 1929, eighth printing of the revised Handbook. This copy is only in fair condition with considerable time and handling wear showing to the stiff card-stock wrappers. The front panel is a Norman Rockwell illustration showing a Boy Scout in profile with red neckerchief and brown hat against a blue-and-black background of famous Americans. The wrappers show a vertical crease to both front and back panels, two dog-ears to the lower front corners, as well as additional edge and corner wear. The wrappers have become separated from the spine of the text but the wrappers are still held to the text block at the rear corner. One can easily see the spine of the text block and wrapper where glue was used originally to attach the wrappers. The text block is complete with age wear showing but really the text pages are clean and with very few pencil marks. This copy features a front endpaper page with ?My Scout History? where a scout has filled out the page for his scout activity going through 1930. Another front endpaper shows the extensive printing history for the original Scout Handbook of 1910 and the 37 printings for that edition through 1927 and then the ?Revised Edition? of 1927 - - of which this copy is the eighth printing in 1929. Again - - the text pages are in very nice condition with a touch of age toning - - but very little damage - - although there is a stain for the first five pages, but beyond that the text pages are clean with very few markings. This is the original handbook and not a contemporary copy - - featuring a Norman Rockwell cover. 646 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-1168
