Illustrated with 24 plates, including frontispiece, half tones, and woodcuts in text. The first edition of the classic book on the Goodwins by the Rev, Thomas Stanley Treanor (1873-1910). It gives an account of the Deal boatmen and their luggers and rescues from ships wrecked on the Goodwin Sands by the crews of the Deal lifeboats, and was the first volume of a trilogy on this subject.
