Bound full morocco, elegantly decorated and stamped in gilt by the Guild of Women-Binders and signed in gilt stamp as customarily by them on the front dentelle: "Guild of Women-Binders." With bookplate of former owner to front pastedown of Frederick George Engelbach, a surgeon and First Commanding Officer who died while tending the wounded in the Battle of Nooitgedacht during the Boer War. Near Fine with light wear, small stain to top textblock edge. A lovely and well-preserved example of the Guild's work. The Guild of Women-Binders was a British organization founded in 1898 to promote and distribute the work of women bookbinders at the turn of the 20th century, disbanding in 1904. It helped sell bindings produced by women binders already practicing, and instituted training programs to teach other women the craft. Seller Inventory # 140945067
