Original 1939 b&w photograph of a gathering of magicians, accompanied by a note in pencil on a Will Andrade (173 Pitt St. Sydney) leaflet, giving some of the names of the magicians present; both the leaflet and the photograph are dated in pencil June 25th 1939, the leaflet being informally titled 'Rooklyn's Nite' (I am unable to find out who Rooklyn might have been, but his brother Beaver appears in the photograph); also on the rear of the picture is written 'Hampden Court Kings X' - I take this to refer to the Hampton Court Hotel King's Cross Sydney, where I am inferring a convention of magicians, or a magicians' party may have taken place - Please Note: I can't state any of this with certainty, but Allan J. Shaw does appear in the photograph, and Magicpedia informs me that Shaw spent the later part of his life in Australia (dying in Sydney) - and also the Will Andrade leaflet suggests Sydney; other names which appear on the leaflet are Dr Irving (whom I take to be Doc Irving, but again without certainty), J. Bell, Theo Dalton, Lavett, Vic Sanderson, Dan Leonardo, Partan, and two other names which I can't decipher; scarce item; the photo is a little rubbed, and with a few fingerprints visible on black areas, also faintly visible is some offset from the printed side of the Andrade leaflet, o.w.
