No dust jackets, likely as issued. This set is a reprint of the original set published in German from 1855-1870. Dauben 1594, Annellis, Review of Modern Logic, 33, pp. 87-105. Prantl's work is, as Annellis points out, infamous among histories of logic and has been subjected to a great deal of criticism ever since its original publication. Prantl surveys the history of logic from the time of Aristotle through the fifteenth century. Although Prantl shows little understanding of modern developments in logic, or even of the work of some of his primary figures (as Dauben indicates, echoing van Heijenoort's famous assessment that accused Prantl of "stunning ignorance" of the subject of logic), Prantl's work is still of interest for its idiosyncratic arguments and controversial reputation. A very attractive example of this set. A very near Fine set. Seller Inventory # 000010085
