About this Item
Dustjacket missing front top near spine, missing piece front bottom near spine, chips, small tears, some foxing endpapers. Pages are clean, binding is tight. From the inside flap: Though German porcelain of the 18th century is eagerly collected, here and in America, no monograph written in English has ever been devoted to it. Mr W. B. Honey is well known as one of the foremost European authorities on the subject, and his book, though including much new material, is also a complete guide for the collector and general reader, concise and informative, and written with an attractive enthusiasm. Besides dealing in a general way with the origins of the art and its background of styles and courtly patronage, it also describes in detail the work of the individual factories and of the principal modellers and other artists, and adds in an appendix the factory marks; no comparable selection of these has ever before been brought together and authoritatively explained in an English book.
