Internally clean, unmarked & tight, w. occ. brown spot & v.faint edge-browning, hinges good, one gathering v.sl.proud, endpapers browning. Cloth-backed grey boards bumped at corners and mid-bottom edge, but clean and essentially undamaged, sp.label darkened but legible and intact, v.sl. fraying top sp. First published in 1818 (U.S.) and 1819 (U.K.) this went through numerous reprintings, but as a cheap popular publication most surviving early 19th century copies are fairly battered in various ways. This is well above average, with the added interest of the Cobbett list and tipped-in notice.
