4to. 11 x 10 inches. 224 pp. Chapter numbers in red. In pictorial card wrappers with folding flaps. A little wear to extremities and slight damage to lower edge of last three pages; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white, including portrait frontispiece. Lavishly produced account of the life and work of Gerald Benney (1930-2010) silver and goldsmith, including his work as designer for Viners of Sheffield, 1957-69, including some notable ranges of cutlery. His art metalwork was influenced by modern Scandinavian design and he popularised the use of stainless steel for domestic use after the war. Graham Hughes (1926-2010) was director of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London, 1951-81, and later turned to art journalism and the writing of books. (The Guardian, 9 Nov. 2010).
