Large 8vo. 6 x 8.75 inches. 255 pp. Bound in original quarter cloth over cloth boards, gilt, with gilt blocks, in pictorial dust wrapper, with pasted in photographs on front board and spine, which has light edge wear at head. A few water stains on spine cloth and a little foxing, largely confined to endpapers and fore edge, but otherwise a very good copy. 1955 inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 73 photographic plates, including frontispiece, on 41 pages of plates, and by tables in text. A well illustrated volume in the Lonsdale Library of Sports, Games and Pastimes, series edited by the Earl of Lonsdale and Eric Parker, also the author for this volume. Eric Parker (1870-1955) was Editor-in-Chief of The Field and a writer on sport, topography and natural history. Chapters cover game birds, wild fowl and other birds, mammals and game fish.
