Presumed first edition (copyright 1897, published in 1898). Light grey-green binding with beautiful gold design on spine, gilt top edge of text block. Not faded, not marked, clean throughout. Frontis "Anne de La Grange-Trianon, Comtesse de Frontena" with tissue protective sheet, plus another tissue protected drawing "Entry of Phips into the Quebec Basin" in mid-text. Noted historian Parkman's commentary on "the most remarkable man" representing France in the New World. Corners lightly bumped, very mild wear on spine edges. Seller Inventory # 102280
