About this Item
Frankie was a jolly little dog who belonged to a jolly little butcher. Frankie could not stop wagging his tail and the story tells what his master did, or tried to do, about it. Alf Evers (1905?2004) was an American historian who wrote children's books with his wife and illustrator, Helen (nee Baker). They met while attending Art Students League of New York, married and settled in Litchfield, Connecticut, where they wrote and illustrated 50 children's books together, most telling fables in a simple prose style that earned comparisons to Aesop, and raised three children. They divorced in 1950 and no further information can be found about Helen. Hardcover copy has yellow boards with illustration showing Frankie with a bone on front cover in a yellow dust jacket with the same illustration on front of jacket. Jacket missing chips on spine with some closed tears stabilized with tape. Interior is tight, clean and text unmarked. Ownership printed on front paste-down (adds no value). Pages not numbered. Copyright 1939. Stated "Edition of 1941" with print code "D." Printed in U.S.A. Code "20-70" printed on unclipped dust jacket. No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR. Seller Inventory # 007518
