This 6.25 x 9.25 inch, 96 page hardcover book is the 1954 printing of this title under the Biobooks series. This title is California Relations No. 37 in the Biobooks series and was printed in an edition of 500 copies at the Abbey Press. This copy is in fine condition with the dark green cloth back-strip and beautiful copper paper covers showing virtually no handling or shelf wear. The interior of this book is in strictly fine condition and even better, with no handling, age, or shelf wear showing. Stephen C. Massett was the earliest entertainer at San Francisco and Sacramento, and his entertainment enterprise was apparently the start of organized theater in California. Arriving in California in 1849 he would later publish his autobiography in 1863 and this reprint book presents Massett's story. This Biobook is a handsome edition with a full-page portrait of Massett preceding the first chapter, and other interesting association documents, such as theater program, are included in the text.
