About this Item
Hand-coloured etching, 9 x 12 inches. Attractively mounted and framed. Cooke's view of the harbour, with a lugger beached at low water, from his Sixty Five Views of Shipping and Craft, a work devoted to depictions of local types of vessel, in this case a Folkestone Lugger. The view of Folkestone is unusual in having an extensive landscape as well as a picture of the craft. A fine etching by the marine artist E.W. Cooke - his details of the Stade and the fishermen's houses show the ramshackle nature of the harbour in the early 1830's. ***This print, if in stock, is normally available at £200 unframed*** PRINTS/MAPS FOLKESTONE PRINTS/MAPS.
