About this Item
Marc-Antoine Jullien was a French revolutionary and protege of Robespierre; with the execution of Robespierre, he became destitute and was imprisoned. After the Revolution, he was sent to Italy and a variety of other posts, becoming known as a pedagogue and writing extensively about education and science. Many consider him the Father of Comparative Education . This is a copy of the fourth edition (Quatrieme Edition) of Essays on the Use of Time reviewed by the author. Has many tables and charts indicating time of day for various tasks, and so forth. In good condition, the frontispiece ( L Economie Recueille les resultats du Tems) is intact with some foxing. On the title page, the description of Jullien is circled in red with etc, etc written underneath. On the copyright page is the usual disclaimer, with M. A. J - and a flourish below. There are fingerprints or light soiling throughout with the usual edgewear. Good Condition: 8vo: half green leather with bright green and olive mottled boards; spine is sunned with gilt bands and lettering; some scuffs to the spine: scuffs to head and tail but solid and unbent: scuffed edges to the boards: bent and rounded corners with exposed board: beige marbled boards with teal, maroon and yellow: Frontispiece intact with speckling and foxing: title page has author and author blurb circled by a red line with etc, etc beneath: name written on copyright page under standard disclaimer M.
