Titled Frankfort and signed Ernest George in the plate lower left, verso blank. Sheet size approx: 13.5 x 9.5 inches; plate size approx: 9 x 7 inches. Sir George Ernest (1839-1922) was a highly successful painter, etcher and architect born in Southwark, London.He exhibited widely in London and elsewhere in England and Scotland, including The Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Society of Painter-Etchers & Engravers and the prestigious Royal Academy. He traveled widely in Europe and produced a substantial catalogue of architectural etchings of subjects in France, Belgium, Germany and Italy. A crisp, clean strong impression, loose and unmatted.
