SECOND EDITION (1941), 4to, 295 x 232 mm, 11½ x 9 inches, light green card covers, slightly smaller cream paper mounted over all 3 panels, very pretty coloured illustration to upper cover (mother and baby on blue and white chair, surrounded by coloured toys, trains, dolls, skittles, trumpet, boats, model village, toy animals etc.), 52 pages. 4 delicate coloured illustrations, each half page with pretty floral border, plus 4 different coloured headpiece illustrations within floral border repeated on blank pages. Pull-out weight and height charts and 8 pages for noting baby's progress or photos. A little very pale foxing on edges of covers, lower cover slightly marked and slightly dusty. Previous owner has added 2 tiny ink dots to heading on 1st page of text, contents otherwise unused and unmarked. Very good plus copy of delightful item. Illustrations: little girl peeps at baby in cradle with ornately festooned curtains; mother and daughter push baby's pram up a hill, dog following, birds overhead; baby in playpen with dolls, birds outside open window; toddler and mother at the seaside under striped awning. Headpieces: mother sews, baby in Moses basket; mother rocks baby on her lap; toddler picks flowers; and toddler with toy dog.
