This was an age in Victorian society when it was not merely a game but was viewed as a perfect system of ethics and morals in the Anglo-Saxon character. Evelyn Waugh speaks of the 1890's as the age of W.G. Grace, General Kitchener, the telephone and the bicycle. It is estimated that during his career W. G. Grace made about 80,000 runs and took about 7,000 wickets. OCLC records copies at the British Library, the National Library of Scotland, Oxford, Cambridge, Archives of New South-Wales. The only copy reported in a North American Library is at the Library and Archives of Canada. Bound in green cloth, lettered and decorated in white, cloth has worn thin, rear hinge starting.
