The author, Dr. Chavez was in search of information between Benjamin Franklin and the Monarchy of Carlos III. This connection was virtually unknown in The US and Spain. Links had been found between the great scientist, statesman, and diplomat at the beginning of American republic and country that he never had occasion to visit. In his search through many documents, Chavez found papers relating to a gift that Franklin gave to Prince Don Gabriel. The gift was a glass armonica, a rare musical instrument that the historians traced through the archives until they reconstructed the instruments voyage from London to Madrid, where it disappeared. It was shipped by Franklin though Franklin himself had never been to Spain. Surprisingly, on July 9, 1784, Franklin was nominated and elected an honorary member of the Spanish Royal Academy of History. This honor was also bestowed on the author Dr. Chavez. There are examples of letters and a plate showing the armonica. Dr. Chavez states "There is much more to be found at a future date.
