About this Item
Christian Wilster was a Danish poet and translator, most remembered for his translations of the Iliad and the Odessey. He was a lecturer in Greek at the Soro Academy and wrote poetry. This is a book of his poetry. Pasted onto the rear board inside is an envelope with several copied poems, one being Confirmation Poem dated 13 April 1828 and another titled Ludwig Wilster with no date. A third is Sophie Thiele . There is a paper with work translated by R.P. Christensen, Teacher with some biographical information and an advertising photo of Annette Jnel (Uinde) Wilster who was the poet s mother. On the title page in ink is written the name Uinde. Inside the front is the bookplate of Sydney and Margrette Snow. On the first spare is an inscription, Sydney/from his mother/Christmas 1913. . According to the further information on the back of the photo, she was the aunt of Lewis Uinde and was the Great Great Aunt of Rev. Sydney B. Snow.
