Leaf 2D4 mis-signed as D4. The [7] leaves of engraved plates, include medallion portraits and (folded) dedicatory plate (with motto: "Dulcedine cantus trahitur"; the central image depicts the kidnapped lyre-player Arion about to be thrown into the sea by pirates; above, is the coat of arms of the Dauphin, supported by two angels). The contents are clean, fresh, and crisp. Later eighteenth century calf , lightly abraded and rubbed, the smooth spine lettered direct. Marbled endpapers. A near fine copy. Daretis Phrygii de excidio Troiae historia", is an account of the destruction of Troy, a work in Latin purporting to be a translation of a Greek original by Dares Phrygius, and was sometimes attributed to Cornelius Nepos (though the work post-dates Nepos, probably to the 5th cent.
