3 1/2 inches x 5 1/8 in., woodcut design by Swiss artist & illustrator, August Aeppli. Ein gutes Jahr wunscht 1919. Printed on tan paper card stock. Small paste spots on the back corners. From the personal collection of fellow Swiss-born artist and designer, Fred Rentschler, who emigrated to America in the early 1920's, and later taught at the Cleveland [Ohio] School of Art. His collection contained examples of proofs & finished pieces of bookplates, new year's greetings, book illustrations, title-page designs, initial letters, etc. mainly produced by Swiss artists & designsers, ca. 1917-22, including a few of his Swiss bookplate designs.
