This is a beautifully illustrated volume of 12 bound issues of "DEMOREST'S MONTHLY MAGAZINE" - November, 1884 to October, 1885. Volume XXI. Three-quarter leather binding with gilt lettering and accents on the spine. Published by W. Jennings Demorest in New York. The volume features wonderful full-page chromolithograph color plates and black & white engravings, fashion patters, in-text illustrations, and at least one fold-out. The issues contains works of fiction, non-fiction, poems, fashion, recipes, news bits, new book reviews, etc. Condition: Some light soiling near the center of the front cover. The cover corners are worn. Wear to the leather at the cover corners, and along the edges of the spine. There are a few tiny areas at the center of the spine where the leather has chipped. Tight binding with no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached and are not shaky. Occasional mild foxing to the pages (though the foxing is a bit heavier on the end papers and pastedowns. Most of the tissue guards over the chromolithograph plates have numerous tears on them (though the color plates themselves remain in terrific condition) - over time, the tissue papers had somewhat adhered to the images, and in the process of separated them, tears resulted . The 2nd chromolithograph plate at the front has a thin 1" strip adhered at the outer edge that has transferred from the tissue guard. The full-page engraving before the January 1885 issue has a 1.5" tear at the bottom-right corner. Overall the volume is in Good+ condition. Seller Inventory # ABE-1696162320231
