Very good book, no dust jacket. This is the second edition of the book first published in 1896. Wonderful examples of illustrations throughout. Green/blue cloth covered boards with pink illustrations and text stamped on front panel and spine. Upper page edges are gilt. Spine is sunned, text and graphics are scuffed but legible. Creasing and scuffs along edges at head and tail of board spine but no fraying as yet. Fore-edge corners tips are rubbed through. Gilt on upper page edges is rubbed near the spine; outside and lower page edges are age-darkened, small stain on lower edge. Light sunning and scuffs at extremities; small stain toward the lower edge of front board panel. Smudges and faint indications of penciled erasures on end papers, else book is internally clean. Front inside gutter is cracked, also at pp. 80-81, however text block remains stable. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description.
