12mo. Pp. 310. Green cloth, titles and rules stamped in red on the cover and spine: spine ends and corners lightly bumped, spots to fore edge of front cover, owner ink marking on front pastedown. In the three color illustrated dust jacket, price $2.00 intact on front flap: edges rubbed and short closed tears, spine head crimped, spine sunned. The "Dutton Mystery for May" already in its fifth printing that month. Williams was a prolific short story writer and later edited the diary of confederate wife Mary Boykin Chesnut. British painter and muralist Jean Clark did commercial illustration during a stay in New York 1928-29. Dust jacket preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve. Seller Inventory # 5992
