The black & white photograph has the title in pen in a sign at the top in the scenic stage decorations. In white pencil which is hard to read is 'Comedy(?) photo Quebec' Frederick Hugh Sherston Roberts VC (8 January 1872 - 17 December 1899), son of the famous Victorian commander Field Marshal Frederick Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts, was born in Umballa, India, and received the Victoria Cross, he was killed in action at the Battle of Colenso during the Boer War. Field Marshall Roberts and his son were one of only three pairs of fathers and sons to be awarded the VC. Today, their Victoria Crosses are in the National Army Museum.
