8vo. 5 x 7.5 inches. viii + 241 pp. Bound in full Morocco elaborately tooled in gilt with the ticket of J. English Bookbinder Folkestone and the bookplate of J.C. Bouverie. The book was dedicated to Lady Mary Bouverie and therefore the bookplate is likely to be her husband: Jacob Bouverie, Earl Radnor making this very probably the dedication copy given by English to the Lord of the Manor. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece of William Harvey and numerous wood engravings throughout the text. The First Edition of the nineteenth century history and guidebook of the town; the first published attempt at a comprehensive history of the town.
