About this Item
"French's Standard Library Edition." Endpapers foxed, bottom corner on rear wrapper chipped, spine lightly tanned and rubbed, a very good copy. A play about the ultimate domineering wife, winner of the 1926 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Basis for three films in 1928, 1936, and finally in 1950; with Irene Rich, Rosalind Russell and Joan Crawford each assaying the title role. The 1936 version with Russell is particularly notable and was the actress's first major success. Several of Kelly's other plays were also filmed, and he was the uncle of screen legend Grace Kelly.
