About this Item
Houghton Mifflin Company, 1952, Boston. Hard Cover. Book condition: Very Good. Dust jacket condition: Fair. Unstated edition, indeterminate printing due to the absence of any number line. Hardcover in price clipped dust jacket. 8-5/8" tall, 647 numbered pages includes "Comparative Dates", "Notes", "Bibliography, Annotation, and Minutiae" and "Index". This book has been read but is in very good, secure condition: the exterior is square, very clean, free of edge dings with 3 of the corners very lightly bumped and with slight bumping at the head and heel of the spine, all without any fabric damage; spine has a bit of a vertical crease from being read; hinges are strong. Except for an inked name/date/city on the back of the FFEP, the interior is perfectly clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. Not remaindered or ex-library but possibly a Book Club edition--there is no mention of any book club on the jacket but there is no price on the jacket and there is a pencil-point sized indentation on the rear panel where a 'slug' would be, which is suggestive and a bit suspicious. The dust jacket is in one piece but it is in shambles (see photos): it is reasonably clean, but with tears (especially on rear flap), chips and fading. But worse--there was masking tape, since removed, on the back side--along all edges, along both folds and on the entire width of the spine; that tape has not affected the binding at all but has slightly darkened the jacket wherever the tape was applied. Jacket is protected by mylar jacket cover. Seller Inventory # BMR-2021-6-21-4
