Size of binding: 13 ½ in. by 20 ¾ in. Approximately 96 issues from Volume 10: 836-849, [849], 850, [850]-858, [858]-863, 865-894, 896-910, [911], 911-926, 928, 929, 930, 932, 934, 935 (Brackets indicate that there are two issues bearing the same number.) The following issues are missing: Nov. 26, 1819 (Issue No. 927) Dec. 10, 1819 (Issue No. 931) Dec. 17, 1819 (Issue No. 933) There is no issue numbered 864 and no issue numbered 895. Since, however, there is no gap in dates between issues 863 and 865, or between issues 894 and 896, it appears that the printer erred in assigning numbers to the issues, not that those issues are missing from this collection. Each issue consists of two leaves or four pages. Totals: 194 leaves, 388 pages. Issue 886 shows one article cut out from the first of the two leaves of this issue. Issues 898 and 899 show stains. Issue 912 shows staining. Issue 934 shows damage to the paper, Issue 935 shows both staining and damage to the paper. Some issues show trimming to the top or bottom edge with the loss of a few letters of text. Some general age-related tanning as well as tan spotting is present to various issues. Old brown leather spine, sides, and corner pieces with a maroon leather title label with gilt designs and gilt titling, reading: "Columbian For the Country." Marbled paper over thick boards. The leather on the spine shows age-related deterioration, with chipping to the ends, hinges, and sides. The front cover is present but detached. The outer covers show considerable wear, with some of the marbled paper chipped away. The leather corner pieces show wear and chipping. On the inner front cover there are signs of deterioration and early repairs. There is a signature in ink present, but it is difficult to decipher. It may be: Chs. Haines. This volume once belonged to John B. Ireland, author of "From Wall Street to Cashmere" (1859). From the collection of William G. Mather (1857-1951), a Cleveland, Ohio-based book collector who was related by marriage to the Irelands. This volume requires proper paper-conservation and binding restoration. Weight is 8.5 lbs.
