Alphonso David Rockwell (1840-1925) & George Miller Beard (1839-1883) - "At the time this monograph was published, Rockwell was an electro-therapeutist at the New York State Woman's Hospital. Beard received his undergraduate degree from Yale in 1862, and his medical education at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1866. Most of his professional career was centered around the study of nervous diseases, and he was one of America's earliest neurologists. In 1869, Beard first described neurasthenia as a form of nervous exhaustion (G-M 4843). Rockwell and Beard's text consists of reprints of journal articles previously published in the Medical record (New York) in 1872and 1873. There is neither a table of contents nor an index.
