String bound brown printed wraps 16 x 25cm. viii + 32pp. Very good with creasing and marks, and faint damp stain to the front. This contains chapters on travelling in China, climate and health, passport regulations, language, currency etc, Chinese characteristics, social relations, history, literature, government, and art, with a bibliography. The Foreword credits A.D. Blackburn and A.G.N. Ogden as principal authors, citing several others for their inputs. Blackburn (1887-1970) had been serving as Consul General in Shanghai during 1932-33. Ogden (1889-1981) made his contributions whilst on home leave in between consular postings in Tientsin and Chefoo. He later served as Consul General in Shanghai during 1945-47.
