Etched frontispiece portrait of Charles Meryon by Fà lix Bracquemond. Title vignette. Limited Deluxe edition of the catalogue raisonnà of the works of Charles Meryon (1821-1868), a renown French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he suffered from color blindness. Meryon is generally recognized as the most significant etcher of 19th-century France. His most important work, a series of views of Paris, depict a city on the eve of Haussmannization, and an increasingly industrialized cityscape. This work is splendidly illustrated throughout with numerous in-text and full-page illustrations, as well as 32 hors-text, including one folded in full color, and one double plate. One of 100 copies of the Deluxe edition, of which this copy is out of series. Some rubbing at tail of spine. Binding, in overall good+ to very good, interior in very good condition.
